Summary

In this episode Stephen talks about the importance of networking. All ten businesses that Stephen owns has been made by networking, and although social networking nothing has made some of it beats face to face networking. The main point of face to face networking is the other person really gets a feeling for you, and it is easier to make a real relationship. A lot of people think that when you go out networking you go and just throw around your business cards and hope people come to you. Really you should be trying to form real relationships, people can tell when you aren’t being genuine. The best way to build your network is to get people to know like and trust you. The first thing you have to worry about is being know, start with something memorable, that way people will remember you. Always be true to yourself, if you don’t enjoy someone then don’t work with them, there are billions of people in the world not everyone is going to like you. Ask yourself if you can be friends with this person, and the trust aspect will follow. After you meet someone at a networking event, set up a meeting, follow up with them. Stephen then goes on to explain the four-color/ personality types. This is important because the more you understand about the person you are talking to, the easier it will be to talk to them. It is important to remember that the people you are networking with, most likely wont be your clients, but they will refer you to others, because they know like and trust you.
